I’m beyond excited, albeit in a slightly nervous kinda way, to finally share something I’ve been keeping under wraps for several months now: the new off-grid cabin is finished and is making it’s debut on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces! You can watch us here.
George was blown away by our idea of using refrigerated lorry bodies as the starting point for this new cabin.
The Vision
Building a second, off-grid cabin for Albion Nights here in Norfolk was always part of the long-term plan, but I wanted it to be as special and unique as the first. The OG! This wasn’t about creating a carbon copy, but I did want another off-grid cabin that felt like a sister to the first. I wanted another space that invited people to slow down, unplug and immerse themselves in nature. The design process was led by the same ethos that shaped our first cabin: sustainability, craftsmanship and a deep respect for the environment.

The Build
Bringing this new cabin to life has been a perfect balance of challenging and rewarding. Stress levels were running high, but as George said, if the production company hadn’t put such a tight filming schedule on us, we’d still be scratching about on the build! One of the most challenging aspects of this project was the decision to use refrigerated lorry bodies as the starting point for the structure. These units have a relatively short lifespan in the transport industry, but they are incredibly well-insulated and structurally sound, making them a perfect starting point. By giving them a new purpose, we’ve been able to recycle and upcycle materials that might otherwise go to waste. Who’d have thought that using these refrigerated lorry bodies would be so cool!
Every step of the build has been a labour of love, from sourcing reclaimed and sustainable materials to working through the practicalities of off-grid living. I worked closely with craftspeople (thanks, Pete and Big Steve Arlene!) to ensure that every element, from the timber cladding to the handcrafted interior details, reflected the slow-living philosophy I love.

The Amazing Spaces Experience
Being featured on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces has been a brilliant experience. The filming process allowed us – Pete and me – to share our passion for off-grid living and sustainable design, and it was amazing to see our work through George’s eyes. His enthusiasm for small, beautifully crafted spaces made the experience even more special. I can’t wait for you to see the project unfold on screen. Well, maybe I can! I’ll be cringing behind a cushion when it airs!

What’s Next?
With the cabin almost complete, I’m gearing up for its official launch. I’m hosting a special event to celebrate with a small, select audience and am looking forward to soon welcoming guests into this new space. If you’ve ever dreamed of switching off and spending time in a handcrafted, off-grid retreat, this could be your perfect escape.
I’d love to hear your thoughts—what would you like to know about the build process? Maybe you’d like some help building your own! Drop me a comment or message me on Instagram!
